· Entry form, synopsis and film MUST be submitted by: MONDAY 3rd AUGUST 2009.

ELIGIBILITY:
The film entry must be submitted by either the:
- director;
- producer; or
- copyright owner.

This person will be known as the ‘contact person’ on the entry form and the responsible party in ‘Festival’s Terms and Conditions’. The contact person has the obligation to ensure every aspect of the entry has been satisfied.

The contact person has the responsibility to ensure the film complies with the law, including that there are no possible copyright infringements. The Queen St Film Festival (‘Festival’) does not have the responsibility to check that the film complies with all domestic and international laws, only the contact person has this knowledge and can make inquires.

Short-film competition:
· Students attending either a tertiary, TAFE or arts institution.
· Independent filmmakers are also eligible to enter.
· Open to both Australian and non-Australian citizens.

All filmmakers can submit up to 2 short-film entries.

SUBMISSION CHECK-LISTS:
Short-films

Þ Post entry form, DVD and MiniDV tape.

Þ Fully paid, self-addressed envelope for MiniDV tape – optional
Þ Email film stills and headshots of filmmakers – on request

The Festival will not accept the MiniDV tape brand Fuji.
The Festival recommends Panasonic & TDK MiniDV tapes.

If a film contains a language other than English, subtitles MUST be present on all copies.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the contact person to ensure the submitted DVD and MiniDV tape copies are fully functional and in proper working order. In previous year the Festival’s editors have been frustrated by submissions which skip, pause, pixilate or do not play. If such an entry is received it may not be considered for screening.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
There is no entry fee.
Films do not have to be recent – films will be accepted if made in 2007.
· Short-films are to be submitted on MiniDV tape AND DVD. Both formats are required for judging and editing.

All MiniDV tapes will be returned if a fully-paid, self-addressed envelope is submitted along with the film and entry form.

International entries are to ensure the DVD is either a Region 4 or 9 DVD.

International entries MUST ensure the entry is in PAL colour as the festival is based in Australia.

Once the entry form, synopsis and film(s) have been received by Festival organisers, each entry will undergo a preliminary round of judging. A short-list will be drafted and a final screening will determine the final screening selection. If successful, the contact person will be notified and the film will be screened.

However, if an entry contains material that is deemed discriminatory or offensive to any group of persons and/or generally distasteful, it will not be screened. Discretion will be used during the judging and selection processes.

Submitting:
· The entry form, synopsis and film (MiniDV tape & DVD) MUST be posted to PO Box 3, ROSANNA 3084, VIC (Australia) BY MONDAY 3rd August 2009.
· A confirmation e-mail will be sent once entry is received.

Permission for screening:
· By agreeing to ‘Festival’s Terms & Conditions’ and completing the ‘Entry Form’ the contact person is granting permission for the Festival to screen the film(s).
· The contact person is also giving the Festival permission to use film stills and photographs they submit for the purposes of publicity.
· Images from the film(s) and additional photographs may be reproduced and/or broadcast on the Festival’s blogsite, associated websites and/or media outlets. This is not an exhaustive list of media sources.
